Finding unusual and memorable places like this to show our children is always a highlight, and Lombard Street is certainly something they won’t soon forget.

  When we found ourselves with a bit of extra time one day, we decided to head up to Coit Tower, perched atop Telegraph Hill. While there’s a small fee to take the elevator to the very top for a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire city, it’s well worth it for the breathtaking vistas. From this vantage point, you can see Alcatraz, the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the bustling financial district, offering an incredible overview of San Francisco’s layout.

  However, even if you choose not to go inside, walking around the tower and exploring its surroundings is a rewarding experience in itself. The view from the front of the tower, looking out over the bay, is absolutely amazing. You can clearly see Alcatraz and the entire span of the Golden Gate Bridge from here, making for fantastic photo opportunities without paying an admission fee. We enjoyed simply exploring the area, admiring the historic murals inside the tower (free to view on the ground floor), and observing the local artists sketching the stunning scenery – a truly charming and memorable moment.
