  • Familiarize yourself with pressure cooker timings using a reliable Instant Pot cooking times cheat sheet. This will help you master cooking various ingredients like meats, vegetables, and beans.
  • For optimal results and easier cleanup, consider investing in a non-stick inner pot for your pressure cooker. While it’s always good practice to understand how to deglaze a pressure cooker after sautéing, a non-stick pot significantly reduces the chances of food sticking.

Crafting the Perfect Ninja Foodi Buffalo Chicken Dip

At the heart of any exceptional buffalo chicken dip lies a quality hot sauce. Numerous brands grace grocery store shelves, each offering its unique profile. While popular national brands like Frank’s RedHot are a staple for many, don’t overlook store brands; they often provide a similar flavor at a more budget-friendly price point. The key is finding one you love.

Remember that hot sauces come in a spectrum of heat levels, ranging from mild and tangy to intensely fiery. When making your selection, consider your personal preference. A medium heat level allows the complex flavors of the dip to shine through without overpowering your taste buds, whereas a super spicy sauce might be perfect for true heat seekers. Tailor the spice to your liking for the best experience.

You might have tried pre-made buffalo chicken dip from the grocery store, perhaps a tub of Publix buffalo chicken dip, heated at home. While convenient and tasty, making it fresh from scratch in your pressure cooker offers a superior experience. The most noticeable difference often lies in the consistency and texture of the chicken. Store-bought versions tend to have finely shredded, softer chicken that has been sitting in the sauce, whereas homemade allows for larger, fresher, and more satisfying chunks.

Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe

This dip is fantastic not only freshly made but also as a next-day delight. It’s an excellent way to use up leftover cooked chicken, ensuring nothing goes to waste. In fact, if you intentionally prepare a rotisserie chicken, you can easily create two distinct meals: this delectable dip and our Instant Pot chicken and rice for dinner. It’s a testament to the versatility of simple ingredients.

Essential Ingredients for Your Spicy Chicken Dip

Crafting the perfect buffalo chicken dip requires a simple yet potent combination of ingredients, each playing a crucial role in achieving that irresistible flavor and texture. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll need:

  1. Cream Cheese: A block of softened cream cheese is paramount. Its rich, tangy base creates the signature creamy texture of the dip. Cutting it into smaller cubes before adding to the pot helps it melt evenly and quickly.
  2. Cooked Shredded Chicken: This is the heart of the dip. Diced, pre-cooked chicken breast works wonderfully. You can use leftover chicken from a previous meal, rotisserie chicken for ease, or even cooked pulled pork for an interesting twist, ensuring maximum flavor and minimizing waste.
  3. Buffalo Sauce: A high-quality buffalo sauce, such as Frank’s RedHot, provides the iconic spicy and tangy flavor. Adjust the amount to control the heat level.
  4. Milk: A small amount of milk helps achieve the desired consistency. Use less for a thicker dip, and add a bit more at the end if you prefer a thinner or milder consistency.
  5. Minced Garlic: Garlic is a non-negotiable flavor enhancer in many dishes, and this dip is no exception. It adds a pungent depth that complements the spicy and creamy elements beautifully.
  6. Shredded Cheese: A generous layer of shredded cheese, particularly sharp cheddar, melted on top not only looks appealing but also adds another layer of rich, savory flavor.
  7. Green Onions: Diced green onions serve a dual purpose – they add a mild, fresh oniony note when mixed into the dip and make for an excellent, vibrant garnish.

Serving Your Irresistible Dip: Trader Joe’s Inspired Presentation

Once your delectable buffalo chicken dip is ready, the presentation and accompaniments are key to a truly memorable experience. Think beyond basic crackers! An assortment of dippers can elevate this appetizer into a sophisticated spread. Consider crisp celery sticks, crunchy carrot cuts, sturdy pretzel rods, or even toasted bruschetta slices for a gourmet touch. For an individualized and charming serving style, ladle portions into small ramekins and arrange them alongside these dippers on mini charcuterie boards. This personalized approach is sure to impress your guests!

While the chicken is undeniably the star for many, this dip is incredibly versatile. You can easily prepare a meatless version by simply omitting the chicken from the recipe. This offers a fantastic option if you’re catering to different dietary preferences or want to provide multiple choices for your guests. The creamy, spicy base remains incredibly flavorful on its own, making it a delicious vegetarian appetizer.

Ready to make this your go-to football party food or a quick weeknight indulgence? The process is remarkably straightforward. Below, you’ll find the full ingredient list and detailed instructions. Here’s a quick overview of how to achieve this creamy, spicy perfection in your pressure cooker:

Mastering Cream Cheese Dip in Your Pressure Cooker

  • Begin by adding all ingredients into your pressure cooker pot, reserving the shredded cheese and half of the diced green onions for garnish. It’s recommended to start with 1/4 cup of milk; you can always add more later to thin the dip or mellow the spice to your preference.
  • Secure the lid and seal the steam valve. Set your pressure cooker to cook on high pressure for 0 minutes. This “0-minute cook time” is crucial, as the dip only needs to reach pressure for the ingredients to melt and combine. Once the cooker reaches full pressure and beeps, immediately perform a quick release by carefully flicking the steam valve. Once the steam has fully escaped, you can safely lift the lid.
  • Give the dip a thorough stir. At this point, taste and adjust the consistency and spice level. If you desire a thinner dip or wish to temper the heat, gradually stir in more milk until it meets your liking.
  • Transfer the warm, creamy dip into a serving bowl. Crown it with the remaining shredded cheese and a sprinkle of diced green onions for a vibrant garnish.
  • Serve immediately with your choice of crispy crackers and fresh celery sticks. The residual heat will beautifully melt the cheese topping.

For serving, you have a few excellent options. The dip can be kept warm directly in your pressure cooker pot, or you can transfer it to a more aesthetically pleasing serving dish. Alternatively, for extended warmth during a party, move the dip to the inner liner of a slow cooker, cover it with a glass lid, and set it to the “keep warm” setting. This ensures your dip stays perfectly warm and ready for guests to enjoy for several hours, making it an ideal choice for entertaining.

Storage and Reheating Tips for Buffalo Chicken Dip

Knowing how to properly store and reheat your buffalo chicken dip ensures you can savor its deliciousness beyond the initial serving. If you have leftovers, allow the dip to cool to at least room temperature for about 15 minutes before transferring it to an airtight covered dish. Stored in the refrigerator, the dip will remain fresh and enjoyable for up to 3 days. When reheating, a sprinkle of crumbled blue cheese on top can add an extra layer of sharp, tangy flavor, giving your reheated dip a fresh kick. Simply microwave or gently warm on the stovetop until heated through.

While some dips might be suitable for freezing, buffalo chicken dip is best enjoyed fresh or from the refrigerator. Given its creamy, cheese-heavy base, freezing can sometimes alter the texture upon thawing and reheating. If you find yourself with a significant amount of leftover dip, simply placing it in a bowl in the fridge is the preferred method for enjoying it the next day. Should you choose to freeze it, allow it to defrost in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat gently in the microwave for about a minute, stirring halfway through.

For an extra cheesy topping, add more shredded cheese during the last 30 seconds of heating to ensure it melts perfectly into a gooey layer. To keep your dippers fresh, store leftover crackers in airtight freezer bags to maintain their crispness. Vegetables should be stored separately in the refrigerator to preserve their freshness and crunch.

This versatile buffalo chicken dip can also be adapted into more substantial meals. Since the chicken is typically pre-cooked, it’s a fast and convenient base for other dishes, much like our Instant Pot buffalo chicken soup. Feel free to get creative with additions or serving methods!

By Justine
Buffalo chicken dip Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi style. Any pressure cooker will do to make this cream cheese spicy chicken dip appetizer.
Prep: 15 mins
Cook: 10 mins
Servings: 12

Equipment

  • 1 pressure cooker

Ingredients

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened, cut into smaller cubes
  • 2 c chicken, precooked, diced
  • 1/4 c buffalo sauce
  • 1/4-1/2 c milk, depending on how spicy and thick you want it
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 c cheese, shredded cheddar to garnish
  • 1/4 c green onions, diced, half in pot and half to garnish top

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients except the shredded cheese & only half diced green onions into the pressure cooker. I would start with 1/4 c milk and you can add more later to thin it out or make it less spicy.
  2. Close lid and steam valve and set to high pressure for 0 minutes. (will take about 10 minutes to come to pressure) As soon as it comes to pressure and beeps let the steam out and lift the lid.
  3. Stir, taste, add more milk if desired to tame down and/or thin it out. Pour into serving bowl and sprinkle shredded cheese and diced green onions on top to garnish.
  4. Serve with crackers and celery sticks.
