The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

You can find these with a bone in and without one, the latter would be called a pork loin roast. Sometimes there is a small piece left in and that is okay too. I don’t think the cook time varies much between the two really.

How Long to Cook Boneless Pork Roast in Air Fryer

Wondering how long to cook pork roast in air fryer? 3 pounds will take about 40 minutes for the thickest part to be cooked thru. There is no need to flip it over as the hot air will circulate around the whole piece when laid flat. To ensure it does not overcook check often with a digital thermometer and remove once it hits 140F internal meat temperature before consuming.

If your piece is right out of the freezer you can follow the temp and timing in our Air Fryer Frozen Roast recipe. How Long to Cook Small Pork Roast in Air Fryer

If you want to cook this for just two people or something you can adjust the timing for 1.5 pounds. For half the size I would set for half the time. Adjustments will need to be made depending on how thick the middle is of course but the variance will be very slight. When checking the temp do so with the meat still in the basket and the drawer removed from the machine.

How do you keep a pork roast from drying out?

First off you don’t want to overcook it. Like I said, about 12 minutes per pound is usually adequate to get it to a safe 145 degree F. temp in the middle. Remember that while it is resting it will continue to cook and raise about 5 degrees as it sits so keep that in mind. If you take it out at 145 it will likely become 150 F when it is time to serve it.

A piece of seasoned food, likely air fryer pork roast or tofu, sits in a black air fryer basket. The surface is coated with a reddish spice mix, and the basket has a perforated design for air circulation. The surrounding area appears to be a white surface.

How to Make the Gravy

There will be some drippings in the bottom of the machine you can use to make cream of mushroom gravy on the stovetop. Just bubble and thicken with 1 tbsp of cornstarch in it. This is great to pour on top of each serving too of course too. That will add even more moisture, flavor, and texture to the meal.

Tips for Success

As far as the seasonings go it is up to you but I like to use our steak ortri tip dry rub. Yes, those are great for all sorts of things, way beyond what I named them. You could just use salt and pepper or a bottled style that is already made but ours is easy enough and you should give it a whirl. The link is in the recipe card below.

Two layers of dry rub are best. Once you have all the ingredients together you just sprinkle it all over. Rub it on and then do that again to get a nice thick coating on this baby. There is some brown sugar in it so that will cause the outside to brown quite a bit but if you follow the timing below it won’t burn.

Just ensure you have some sort of non stick spray down so it doesn’t stick and peel off once you remove the meat out of the air fryer basket. I have had some people say they have used Splenda instead too.

Another tip for this and any other large meats like this and air fryer chuck roast is that is MUST rest for a good 15 minutes. If you skip this step the juices will spill out once sliced and dry it out. You want all of those to stay inside each piece so it’s as tender as possible.
