These air fryer biscuit donuts can be made in a Cosori, Foodi, AirWave or fried in oil. Either way they’re an easy breakfast idea that everyone will love. Best way to make refrigerated biscuits better!

We will show you how to make donuts in an air fryer, as well as frying them on the stovetop or deep fryer. Of course hot air is going to have a lot fewer calories and fat than the other. I really really don’t like submerging any food in oil. Not only is it horrible for my cholesterol but it always has a weird after taste.

Another tweak to this is we love makingair fryer apple fritters too. Those use a homemade batter so it will take a bit longer to get everything together but as for “baking” them there isn’t much of a difference between the two. You should try both and see which you prefer.

Ninja Foodi Biscuit Donuts

A close-up photo of a hand pulling out the basket of an open air fryer on a light-colored surface. The interior of the air fryer basket is empty and features a mesh design, perfect for cooking your favorite dishes like bang bang shrimp. The edge of the air fryer has a latch mechanism for securing the basket.

You can in fact use homemade dough like our Biscuit Donut Holes, but this way is easier. We chose to leave them hole with a space in the center. You could break in half and roll into a ball and cook that way too. If you choose to fry in oil you can do that as well. I would use a cast iron pan and a thermometer. Optimal temperature should be 350 degrees F when you drop those babies in to get them nice and crispy.

Ingredient Notes

Choose Grands biscuits style versus the smaller versions. They will come out fluffier and the size you’d expect when visiting Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts.

Can you make biscuit donuts with refrigerated cinnamon rolls?

If you want to use refrigerated or defrosted frozen cinnamon rolls you could however they aren’t as pliable as they are rolled up. Instead you would have to cut in half, roll up and essentially make donut holes out of them to air fry for 5 min. or so.

Then you would want some melted butter and sugar and/or cinnamon and sugar mixture to coat the outside unless you wanted to dip into melted chocolate.

How Long to Cook Biscuit Donuts in Air Fryer

You need to preheat for 5 minutes first. Then lay 4 pcs into air fryer and close basket. Cook at 330 F for 4-7 minutes until outsides are golden brown. Then it will take a minute or two to brush on a bit of butter and dip into cinnamon and sugar or powdered sugar to stick and make it sweet but in less than 10 minutes it’s done.

Biscuit Donuts with Frozen Dough

You could use frozen rolls instead however you would want to press 2 together to have the right size. It takes about 45 minutes for those to defrost as well so you would have to add that to the overall timing it would take to make them. Beyond those differences you could use the temp and timing below.

These semi homemade donuts just rock! Your kids will help you and they will love all the different toppings they can add on to the outsides.

Topping Ideas

Whether you just want fine sugar on top, melted chocolate or a glaze you’ll follow this same method. Hold donut with 3 fingers upside down and gently dip into donut frosting. Twist and turn right side up. Put on rack to dry/stiffen up. Once you have some butter or sticky glaze or frosting on top the possibilities for toppings are endless!

Now you have to decide how you want to “fry” these babies. I do not deep fry anything, ever. I don’t like the aftertaste left from the oil, and it adds fat where it’s not needed.
