I have been obsessed with my new kitchen appliance, and made a bacon wrapped pork chop first and now I am obsessed! Just one of our favorite air fryer recipes here on Zopago blog. (affiliate links present)

There are a few choices as far as the coating goes. If you don’t want to use breadcrumbs I highly suggest that you use our dry rub for pork chops like we did this time. However, both methods turn out great with a crisp layer on the meat in just minutes.

You can use any brand you have really. We have made this as an easy Cosori air fryer recipe as well when that is more convenient for me to pull out. The biggest difference is typically the size of the basket, larger will fit more pieces.

Using this brand has one extra difference. there are two lids and in this case we are only going to use the one that is attached to get crispy and cook with hot air. We’ve even made frozen pork chops in air fryer before but thawed is suggested in this case.

NOW it was time to tackle how to make these. I mean anything wrapped with strips of salted pig are going to get a resounding WOW right?? I made smoked bacon wrapped pork chops in the past, but thought they’d turn out a lot faster in my air fryer and they did! With the same great dry rub for pork they didn’t have the smoky flavor of the other one but the taste was pretty darn close I have to say.

This is the first way I made them, no breading involved which is great if you’re looking for low carb or keto friendly dishes.

Ingredient Notes

Typically I can fit about 4 pork chops in our basket without overlapping them, this is important. Ours were bone in, haven’t tried boneless pork yet

  1. 8 slices of bacon, I prefer uncured and regular thickness
  2. Brown sugar for sweetness, sugar-free varieties are fine too
  3. Salt for a savory flavor on the outside
  4. Garlic salt we love for the dry rub
  5. Chili powder you can use more or less of depending on how spicy you want it
  6. Paprika is optional but a nice addition

Variations

Cook time will vary depending on several factors; the thickness of the bacon and size of your pieces. The thicker they are the longer it will take of course. Quickest would be to use thin pork chops as the base and regular pork slices to wrap with.

We bought 1/2 a pig and cow earlier this year so the bacon is from that. Ours is quite thick and store bought would be thinner. There isn’t a huge difference either way except that the thinner the bacon the crispier it will get and the faster it will cook.

How to Cook Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops in Air Fryer

Time needed: 10 minutes

Ninja Foodi Pork Chops

  1. Preheat Preheat air fryer before adding any food for the ideal crispy texture on the outside.
  2. Prepare ingredients Mix dry rub ingredients in a bowl and then pour it on to a plate so you can press down to coat on both sides so it was well coated.
  3. Wrap with bacon Lay 2 slices of bacon down horizontally. Put the pork chop down and wrap the slices around the top around the meatiest area, not the bone. Fasten down with 1 toothpick per slice so the meat will lay flat in the basket.
  4. Cook Spray air fryer basket with non stick spray. Lay inside the basket, as many as you can in a single layer. Close lid and cook pork chops 10 minutes flipping halfway through the cooking process.
  5. Check Check meat internal temperature, it needs to reach a safe 145 F in the center. Wait to slice until it has rested for 5 minutes.

Breaded Option

We went further and created an option for breaded air fryer pork chops as well, these pieces were from the same batch in our freezer.  We have made pressure cooker pork chops in a sauce and those were good. If you want to experiment I would suggest trying that recipe as well this week.

  1. 4 pork chops
  2. 1 cup bread crumbs
    1. or 1/2 c. panko bread crumbs + 1/3 c. crushed cornflakes
  3. 1/2 tsp onion powder, garlic powder & paprika
  4. 1 egg
  5. Olive oil spray

Directions

  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
  • In a bowl combine all spices and bread crumbs well, pour on to a plate.
  • Whisk egg in a shallow bowl and dip meat into it on both sides
  • Lay a pork chop into the mixture and lightly coat so it sticks.
    • Flip over and press down again.
  • Spray inside of air fryer basket and put chops inside so they don’t overlap.
  • Use olive oil spray on top.
  • Set to 10 minutes to cook total, flip halfway through and spraying on other side too.
    • For very thick pieces 15 minutes might be necessary

If you want to go on a roll and cook them a bunch of different ways you can try dutch oven pork chops too. They are really versatile!

No, that won’t get you the crispy result you want. Hot air needs to circulate around the food in order for all surfaces to crisp.

To evenly crisp the outside you will want to, yes. Use tongs to flip these once during the 10 – 12 minutes total cook time ideally.

  • Cuisine American

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops
  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tbsp chili powder (makes it mild/medium heat)
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika

Method

  1. 1

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees while you're preparing all of this. Mix seasonings and pour on to a plate. Lay 1 pork chop on seasoning, flip, cover and coat both sides.

  2. 2

Lay 2 slices of bacon down horizontally, use a cutting board for this. Wrap the top portion of the pork chop (meaty end) and fasten with 2 toothpicks so bacon stays on. Insert vertically so it is not sticking out and chop can lay flat.

  3. 3

Spray inside of air fryer basket with non stick spray.

  4. 4

Lay 2-3 pork chops inside the basket, as many as you can without overlapping. We can only fit 2.

  5. 5

Close lid and air fry for a total of 10 minutes (approx, time varies according to how thick your pieces are), flipping halfway through the cooking process.

  6. 6

Remove and check internal temperature to ensure they're done. Allow to rest for at least 5 minutes before cutting. Remove toothpicks before eating.
